Thai Tea also known as Thai Ice Tea and ชาเย็น (Cha Yen) in Thai, is a Thai cold drink made from tea, sugar and cream.
This drink is original from Thailand. It is popular drink and is served in many restaurants that serve Thai Food. Yes, it is sweet because weather in Thailand is summer for almost the whole year. So, people like to drink something sweet and cold for warm season. Moreover, you can make this drink for a party as well.
Serves for 6 to 10
Ingredients:
- 5 tablespoons of Thai Tea Powder
- 2 and 1/2 cups of filtered Water
- 1 cup of Brown Sugar (Use less if you like light Thai Tea taste)
- 1 to 2 teaspoons of Organic Half & Half, milk or cream (Use for each glass)
- Ice Cube
Preparation:
Put Thai tea powder in a square sheet cloth and tie with twine.
In a a deep pot, boil water with brown sugar at high heat. Until the sugar dissolved, reduce heat to medium. Then add Thai Tea powder that prepare earlier into a pot and boil for about 10 to 15 minutes. Turn off strove and let it cool down completely approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Pour Thai Tea in a glass with ice cubes and finish with cream.
It will be good in refrigerator for one week
