Kiao Nam

This menu is known in English as “Thai Style Wonton Soup” or “เกี๊ยวน้ำ” in Thai and pronouns as “Kiao Nam”. I am a soup lover! This Wonton Soup is warm me up this winter and I feel full but it is not too heavy meal.

The soup have light flavor from homemade bone broth with vegetables, full of nutrients. The wontons are not that hard to make it at home as well. In this recipes I will tell you how to make your own wontons step by step. Let’s start.

Serve for 4

Ingredients for Soup

  • 2 big pieces of Pork Bone
  • 8 cup of Water
  • 1 Carrot, chunk cut
  • 1/2 Sweet Yellow Onion
  • 2 teaspoons of Salt
  • 1/4 Cabbage, chunk cut

Preparation

  1. In a large soup pot, added water and pork bone into a pot and bring it to boil at medium high heat. Let the water boil for about 5 minutes, then reduce heat to medium low.
  2. Added the left of ingredients and let the soup simmer to get all the flavor for at least 1 – 2 hours.

The more you let the soup simmer long the more you will get a good flavor from all ingredients.

Ingredients for Wonton

  • 1 pack of Wonton Wrap
  • 1 pound of Ground Pork
  • 1 teaspoon of Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of Coriander Powder
  • Dash of Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 1 tablespoon of Oyster Sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon of Light Soy Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of Sesame Oil

Preparation

In a medium size mixing bowl, combined all ingredients together and mix well until everything corporate. Let it marinade for at least 5 minutes for the meat get flavor from all ingredients.

How to Wrap Wontons

  • Scoop marinade meat by using tea spoon and put in the center of the wontons wrap.
  • Then use a little brush dip on the water and tab around the edge of the wonton then wrap them to cover all the meat inside the wonton.
