It’s blueberry season and our family love to do activities outdoor together. We went to the farm and pick blueberry by ourselves from blueberry trees. Usually the farm will open for people to go pick the blueberry around the end of March until June but depend on the weather of each year. There are many blueberry farms our area and this year we should “Southern Hill Farms” that only 15 minutes drive from our house. I would suggest you bring some hat and put of sunscreen to protect your skin from getting burn because outdoor might be sunny.
This year a bit hot, so, the farm start blueberry u-pick early. You can pick as many pound as you want that it cost $4 per pound and they have 10 flavors of blueberry to choose from depend on which flavor you like to pick. If you like sweet flavor, I would suggest “Emerald” flavor. However, I and my husband love “Springhigh” flavor, we feel like we are eating blueberries in the heaven for this favor (^_^) as it said this favor is a unique sweet flavor. Of course, you can taste it from the tree before you decide to pick them.
There is free parking at front of the farm then you will walk in to the farm and they have some staffs guide you how to pick and buckets with a flavor sheet. After that you can have fun picking blueberries. I saw lots of family with children, I think this place is kids heaven. They also have playground area for small children and at the barn, they sell some breakfast, snacks, local handmade cream, candles, and jam. When we were there that day was a festival and they have more local products, food trucks, homemade cook ice cream and watermelons from other farms as well.
Of course, when I have lots of blueberries fresh from the farm like this. I have some blueberry recipes to share. I make “Blueberry Scones” click here for my scones recipe.
