Vanice or it called Venezia in Italian. Venice used to be the capital of northern Italy’s Veneto Region and it built on more than 100 small islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. It has no road, just canals – including the Grand Canal thoroughfare – line with Renaissance and Gothic Palaces.
Venice was not that big like Milan. We did not use a guide tour for this city. We toured around the island within 2 days by ourselves, we discovered everything for the most part. We stayed near Campo San Stin, it was located in the middle of the island and we just walked to get around. There are few convenient stores near by, so we can get some snacks and water there. After we got some rest for about 30 minutes, checked in at hotel and put our belonging in place, there was no time to wait. We started explore around that afternoon. Grand Canal was close to where we stay. The Grand Canal is a channel in Venice. It forms one of the major water traffic corridors in the city. We walked around taking pictures and then we found a restaurant to have dinner.
The next morning we started to explore at Saint Mark’s Basilica located in the surround area of Piazza San Marco, it is the iconic Cathedral and the most famous of the city’s churches and one of the best well known examples of Italo-Byzantine architecture. Along the way we walked there, we see many brand name and beautiful handmade marks stores every where, you can also shop while you are exploring around town as well. Near Piazza San Marco, we took a ferry taxi to San Giorgio Maggiore and we walked around and, of course, took some pictures. In some churches, they have board or signs for your to read the history of their church.
Transportation
We toured around town by walk for the most part or by boat taxi when we want to go to others island than the main island. However, there are many fancy boats that might cost some more money if you want to be more romantic as it becomes famous and iconic of Venice.
Where to Eat
Most of the restaurants located near Piazza area. However, we usually choose “Trattoria” restaurants to try some food in Venice.
We stayed in Venice for 2 nights and we walked around the city for the first day. Day 2 we walked and took boat taxi to tour around others island near by. What we love about this island is the feeling of an island living and pasta with seafood taste very delicious.
For the next day, our next destination was Rome. We took bullet train from Venezia station to Metropolitan of Rome, it took us 3 hours and a half. We thought train station in Milan was big but at Rome train station even bigger.
Will be continue “4 Days Trip in Rome”
