Florence was our last stop. In the evening the same day we explored around the area near by and found a restaurant to have dinner. It was different feeling with different city. Florence is a capital of Italy’s Tuscany region. It is home to many masterpieces of Renaissance art and architecture. One of its most iconic sights is the Duomo, a cathedral with a terracotta-tiled dome Engineer by Brunelleschi and a bell tower by Giotto.
The next day we started our tour at Florence Cathedral located in Piazza del Duomo. This cathedral is really big and inside was decorate with very beautiful art all around in every corner of the wall and ceiling. In near by area, we stop at Galleria dell’Accademia or Gallery of the Academy of Florence, is an art museum and it is best known as the home of Michelangelo’s sculpture David. In the same day, we walked along Ponte Vecchio where we found many gift shops and restaurants. Ponte Vecchio is a medieval stone closed-spandrel segmental arch bridge over the Arno River.
For the last day in Florence, we took a tour to the suburb of Florence, we went to do biking and toured around country side of Florence surround with mountains and fresh air. We also took a tour at the castle, Castello del Trebbio, on top of the mountain and the last royal family of this castle owner, they actually still live here and they make local food for us to try, taste really really delicious, it was local Florence style food. This castle open for public for visit and host events such as wedding or other special event.
Transportation
We took bullet train to get to Florence and for to tour around the city, we walked for the most part. This city does not have subway or bus service. Most I saw was taxi, might be a bit pricey. I don’t think we need taxi or bus to tour around town due to all main thing to visit was in the same area and close unless we go out side the city to country side area that we need transportation to take us there. However, our tour service used their cars to take us there when we went to the country side area.
Travel in Italy, we walked a lot. So make sure that you have comfortable shoes to wear to prevent your feet get sore.
Where to Eat
We have some breakfast in Piazza del Duomo area and we walked along way to Ponte Vecchio have more restaurants there as well.
We spent to 2 nights here in Florence and we discovered most of main sight seeing around Florence city and we were be able to explore their country side as well. It was a very fun biking tour around town.
The next morning we checked out and got ready to take off. We checked out early and took bullet train to Milan approximately 2 hours from Florence. After we arrived to Milan train station, we took a bus to the Milan airport.
What we love about this trip; we found out that people in Milan is the nicest people when we stayed at the hotel in suburb area. Food in Rome was the best Italian food we ever try and Biking in Florence was so much fun!
